Manchester Marathon, Sunday 19th April

Gemma Connolly was third in the Manchester Marathon on April 19 recording 2.47.12, Chris Levy got inside the top 300 in 3:22:54. Gary Bird finished in 3:43 dead, with Amanda Alletson following in 3:50:41 just ahead of Kev Cunningham in 3.51.26.

Arley Hall 10k - Arley Hall, Northwich, 18th April

Luke Towers finished tenth in the Cheshire 10k at Arley Hall in a time of 34.17. Andy O'Connor unfortunately had to pull out injured during the race but somehow the chip timer recorded him at 46 mins after he'd limped back to the start.


Youth Development League Match 1- Warrington, Saturday 18th April

Saturday 18th April 2015, saw the first Youth Development League for under 17 athletes and under 20 athletes. There were 19 athletes representing St Helens Sutton AC. The meting was held at Victoria Park, Warrington. For the under 17 men; Daniel Lamb competed in the 100m to finish 2nd in 11.7 which was a pb. He also competed in the 100mHurdles, finishing 2nd in 16.4- another pb! He jumped 5.59m in the long jump to finish 2nd once again and achieved another pb. Also in this age group was Lochlain Fisher who competed in the 400m, finishing 1st in 57.7, he also competed in the under 20 men's long jump and won this event, jumping 4.84m. Jacob Beesley threw the discus 37.81m meaning that he finished 1st and also gained a personal best. This also meant that he broke the club record! He threw the shot too and got a pb of 10.27m finishing 2nd. Achieving his third pb of the day, Jacob threw the hammer 24.54m to finish 1st. Chris Larkin competed in the 800m and finished 1st in 2.16.8 which was a pb, he also represented the club in the 1500m steeplechase- winning this event too with a new personal best of 5.10.0. Chris also jumped 1.40m in the high jump and came 1st. The under 17 men's relay team consisted of Lochlain Fisher, Jacob Beesley, Adam Woosey and Daniel Lamb. The team finished 1st in 49.6.

For the under 17 women, Erin Makin finished 3rd in the 100m with a time of 13.7, she also finished 2nd in the 200m in 28.5 achieving a pb. Abbie Roberts competed in the 100m to get a pb of 14.3 and also achieved a pb in her 200m with winning her race in 29.2. Caitlin Young finished 3rd in the 300m in a time of 45.5 and finished 3rd in the long jump with 3.77m. Olivia Harwood-Moss competed in the 300m to finish 2nd in 44.9 which was a pb, she also finished 2nd in the 800m in 2.36.9 which was also a pb. Also in the under 17 women was Samantha Price who competed in the 1500m, she finished 3rd with a time of 5.31.2- this was a new pb! Emily Lowrie represented the club in the 30000m to finish 1st in 13.26.5 achieving a pb. Emily Smith covered the 80mHurdles in 13.6 and finished 1st with a pb. She threw the javelin too- gaining yet another pb and winning with 25.45m and also competed in the high jump to finish 1st with 1.46m. Megan Lang competed in the shot putt and got a pb in this event. She finished 2nd with a throw of 9.37m. Megan also finished 3rd in the under 20 women's long jump with 4.40m. The under 17 women's 4x100m relay included: Emily Smith, Erin Makin, Abbie Roberts and Caitlin Young. The team finished 1st in 55.9. Also the 4x300m relay consisted of Erin Makin, Abbie Roberts, Olivia Harwood-Moss and Caitlin Young. They finished 1st in 3.24.4.

Representing the under 20 men, Adam Woosey competed in the 400m to finish 3rd in 55.9 and finished 2nd in the 800m in a time of 2.11.3. Jonathan Causer finished 1st in the 800m in 2.16.0 and 1st in the 400m with 58.0. He also threw the discus 23.43m to finish 1st. He also got a pb in this event, as he did in the shot putt throwing 9.97m.

In the under 20 women's category, Jessica Leonard got a pb in her 100m with a time of 12.6. She got another pb in her 200m with 25.7 and won this event also. Also representing the under 20's was Zoe Pye competed in the 100m to finish 2nd in 13.9 and also 1st in the 200m with 28.6. Hannah Seabrook competed in the long jump and finished 2nd with a pb of 3.85m which was a pb, she also jumped 1.35m in the high jump to finish 1st.Maria McGoldrick competed in the 400m finishing 2nd in 66.2, achieving a pb, she also ran in the 800m to finish 1st in 2.32.7. Rachel McGoldrick finished 1st in the 800m too, finishing 1st in 2.28.3 and also finished 2nd in the 1500m in 5.14.8. The under 20 women's 4x100m relay consisted of: Hannah Seabrook, Maria McGoldrick, Jessica Leonard and Zoe Pye. The team finished 3rd in 56.3. The 4x400m relay team included Jessica Leonard, Rachel McGoldrick, Samantha Price and Maria McGoldrick. They finished 1st in 4.30.5.

Overall 24 personal bests were achieved and the club was placed 1st with 343 points. Two new club records were set by the U17 Men, Daniel Lamb shaved 1/10th of a second off John Ray's record which had stood since May 1999 in the 110H and Jacob Beesley in the discus.

Well done to everyone who competed for the club, hope to see everyone on Saturday 16th May at Warrington for the second meeting.

Merseyside Fell Running County Championships - Rivington Pike Fell Race, Saturday 4 April

Three vet men raced in this historic fell race. Barry Graney was first home for the team, followed by Ian Roberts with Ian Hayburn completing the team, which came 4th in the Championship.
