Pennington Flash Park Race 30 April.

Matt Crehan finished second in 19.57 (66.08%) new pb, while Jennifer Burrows recorded 27.04 (54.68%) in 23rd spot in her first run.

Halton 5 Mile Bridge Race. 24 April.

Fifteen ladies turned out for the Bridge race on Easter Sunday and finished third team over all. Gemma Connolly finished second in 29.53, Julie Pennington setting a pb (35.31), just ahead of Julia Eccleston who was followed by Cheryl Orrick (38.53) and Sharon Nunn (39.54) pb's in both cases. Rosie O'Hagan recorded (40.05), Pam Appleton (41.01) and fresh from her London Marathon Joanne Keogh with a pb (42.15), four seconds ahead of Lynsey Wilson. Linda White (43.35) had six seconds in hand over Jane Ashcroft, Dorothy Fairhurst came home in 47.42 with the final trio of Janice Lawson (54.11), Janet Holmes (54.13) and Pauline Picton recording a pb with 54.29. This is our best turn out for a long time and hopefully will be followed by others. The results link will be sent as soon as it can be found. Report from Cheryl Orrick.

We understand John Ashcroft, Ian Costello, Jamie White, Maurice Collins, Chris Levy and John Irwin also ran with John finishing as first junior but no report has yet been received. The results can be found at the Power of Ten website.  Results

Merseyside Track Championships - Entries Close 3 May

Entries for the above championships close on the 3rd May.  Why not enter and have a go at grabbing a county honour for yourself and the club.  You might surprise yourself.

Round Up

David Forrester competed last weekend at Durham, North Carolina, recording 4.00.90 (1500) and 14.00.41 (5000). Earlier club results included Denis Wharton 1st O55 at the Belle Vue House race in Ormskirk on 2 April. Denis recorded 40.27 while John Appleton was fourth in his age group with 41.33. John Irwin took 3rd 065 in 59.57. Three days later Mark Davies recorded 32.31 at the Chester Spring Five while Julia Eccleston was first 035 in the Gin Pit race with 37.33. Not to be overlooked it should be noted that Ian Costello and Mark Davies both ran in the Wirral AC track 5k recording 18.01.5 (ninth) and 18.25 (12th) respectively.

Matt Crehan went for a training run finishing 28th in 28.49 (45.75%)

London Marathon 16 April

The finishing positions for the club's athletes were:

Unfortunately, Alan McNally was was admitted to hospital with pneumonia and couldn't compete. We wish him all the best.

Ernie Gallagher Memorial Meeting 16 April.

Jessica Leonard recorded 10.7 and 21.0 to win the 75 and 150 sprints. Bethany Baxter also successful recording 13.0 (100), 200 (27.1) and finishing amongst the medals in the long jump. Paige Misund was third over 600 (1.57.5) and long jumped 3.22. Maia Misund took third in the long jump with 3.81m

Liverpool Jumps and Throws Meeting 16 April

There was a bright opening to the season at Wavertree where Michael Causer came within one centimetre of equalling his own club record of 6.30m. Taylor Caton-Hand won three events, Hammer (36.00m), triple jump (12.08) and long jump (5.50). Chloe Rigby was second in the high jump (1.55) and Sophie Rigby third in the long jump (4.60). Michael Hughes made the top ten of the men's hammer (29.18) while Tricia Spark contested the shot (8.32) and hammer 32.32.

Ras Y Moelwyn (aka as Moelwyn Three Peaks Race) 16 April.

Greg Carns was back in action over the Fells competing over a 10.5m race with a 2800ft ascent, starting at Blaenau Ffestiniog, ascending to the old slate quarries of Cwmorthin and Rhosydd then taking in the three peaks of Moelwyn Mawr, Moelwyn Bach and Moel-Yr-Hydd. Greg took 32nd place in 1.46.23

Air Products 10k - Crewe 10 April

Mark Davies continued his regular racing pattern recording 39 minutes precisely to finish in 65th place.

Wigan open - 10 April

We took a really large contingent of both Juniors and Seniors to Wigan to bask in the glorious sunshine. The support was fantastic and it was great to see so many people stay to cheer on other club athletes even after their events had finished. There were some great performances in both Track & Field but unfortunately the organisers had some difficulty with their computers so not all results are available. Here is what we do have...

Heaton Park Run 2 April

Louise Hayes completed her third Heaton Park run recording 27.39 (a new pb) in 124th place.

New Flash From America:

Dave Forrester has set a new senior club record for the 5000m. Dave's time of 13.47.6 was achieved at the Stanford University Invitational held on 25 March. It was just under 40 seconds quicker than his previous best which was also the previous club record.

Fell Running: 27 March

Greg Carns completed the Edale Skyline Fell Race over 21 miles with a 4500ft ascent. Greg finished 75th out of 350 starters in 3.34.43.
