Denis Malcolm Fulton 1952 -2004

It is with great sadness that the club announces the death of Denis Fulton. Denis has been active in athletics for two decades with involvement in the Merseyside Schools' League for Girls and, more recently, as championship secretary of the Merseyside Track and Field. A member of the club committee since September 2003, last weekend he was a field event official for the senior team at Bebington  on Saturday and travelled to Blackburn to serve in support of the Young Athletes team the following day. His administrative skills were excellent and his work as head of the results team for the home matches we stage was outstanding. Denis   was a teacher at Fazackerley School and was looking forward to spending more time in athletics once he had the opportunity to retire. He is survived by his mother and a brother both of whom live in the Midlands.

New Coaching Coordinator Appointed

Joe Ehlen has been appointed coaching coordinator with immediate effect. Joe's job will be to increase the number and quality of the club's coaching and he has already identified both potential coaches and level 1 coaching courses. On a point of club policy no Level 1 coach will be subsidised to take a Level 2 course unless they are regularly coaching athletes at the club under appropriate supervision.

Results and Records

Results and records, with the exception of the Young Athletes League which have yet to arrive, have been updated as at 1.40 a.m. on 10 June. Unfortunately, the glitches we had with the computer means that a number of new records were not written up at the time. Perusal of the new records (2004) page together with club and individual results will identify those club members who have re-written the club's record books so far this season. Individual record breakers include Edward Taylor, Mike Ehlen, Caroline Morley, Greg Williams, Mike Atkinson and Dave Forrester. Anyone not mentioned has not been omitted intentionally. We are now hopeful that we can now identify new records as and when they occur, starting with the Young Athletes League when we get the results. Please send any amendments to Phil Thomas
