Annual General Meeting: 3 September 2003
The Annual General Meeting of the club will take place in the upstairs
function room of the Bull & Dog Hotel on Wednesday
3 September 2003. The room will be open from 7 p.m. and the meeting itself
will start at 7.30.p.m. prompt. Nomination forms have been posted in the
clubhouse. Only fully paid up senior members may vote. The AGM will include
presentations for athlete(s) of the year. Existing holders are requested to
bring the tophies with them or deposit them with the Secretary, Julia Hayes,
beforehand. Anyone interested in finding out what Committee work involves
can talk to the chairman, Phil Thomas, who will be pleased to explain.
Tom Fillingham Trophy 28 August
The annual Tom Fillingham 5000 metres for men and Ken Crouch 3000 metres race for women
will be held at 8 p.m.on Thursday 28 August, immediately prior to the final
Committee meeting of the year. It is understood the race is being used as
the trial race for the Merseyside and Northern Road Relay teams. Athletes
entering the relays are reminded that entry fees must be given
to Phil Thomas as soon as possible and no later than 28 August.

New Minimum Starting Age:
With effect from 1st August the minimum age at which the club will accept
children for training will be eight years.Children below that age who are
already training at the club will be allowed to stay provided their parents,
or a responsible adult, remains on site for the duration of the training
session. This decision has been taken on the advice of the club coaches
involved with training the primary group and in light of the government's
childminding regulations. Although the Committee is aware that
some enthusiastic under eights will be disappointed they consider it to be
in the long term interests of the children and the club to adopt the new
policy without exception.
Just For the Record.
The setting of four new club records last weekend means that 85 new club
marks have been established since the start of the 2003 track season in
March. We have another two club matches and five open meetings to make that
a round 100.
