Merseyside Championships, Wavertree May 11& 12.

Five members competed in the county championships and came away with 5 medals between them. Mike Burke won the under 13 1500 metres title and collected a second in the two lap race. Jessica Cretu, who narrowly missed a medal in the 80 metres, collected the bronze over 150 metres. Louise Casey had the gold medal in her sights but late entrant Northern Cross Country Champion, Sarah Singleton, took it away and Louise had to settle for bronze. Steve Mayers was third in the 800 metres under 17 contest and Barry Cunliffe recorded a personal best 2.08.7 in the final of the junior two lap race. The absence of younger athletes reflected on the weakness of the club's development programme which is being addressed by the coaches. This year five entrants, five medalists.
