Whitley 10k : 28 April 2002

Louise Casey won her first ever prize by taking third place in the Whitley 10k near Warrington. It was a close run race with Louise, Alison Hartopp and Marion Martin contesting third place with half a mile to go. Alison just edged ahead, six seconds ahead of Louise with Marion five seconds adrift in fourth place. Cecilia Fitzsimons was ninth, Pam Appleton 25th and Pauline Picton 29th. Richard Bradshaw was our only male representative finishing as 60th male.Results

Northern Women's Road Relay : Woodbank Park, Stockport 6 April 2002

This is only the second time a race for women has been held and last year the club did not compete. On this occasion the team of Louise Casey, Pam Fitzsimons, Pam Appleton, Diane Appleton, Cecilia Fitsimons and Kathryn Lambert combined to finish 22nd out of the 35 teams which started. This will form the comparative basis for future performances although not many clubs can field teams which include two mother and daughter pairings. It is to be hoped that in 2003 the men's team will be able to contest the 12 stage which was run in conjunction with the women's event. Results
